Q: Who is PTFC Youth Academy for in the 2019-2020 Season?
u8-u10 Boys and Girls born in 2010, 2011 & 2012. Players will play in gender specific teams in the Youth Academy.



Q: What is the PTFC Youth Academy?

We are excited to introduce the next level of soccer for your young player! The PTFC Youth Academy aims to provide committed players a comprehensive understanding of the game and the technical skills that are necessary to perform on the field. Our practices and games will focus on having fun, player development, and realistic game situations that will allow your player to thrive on the field. 

Q: Where & when does the Youth Academy Practice?
Practices are Mondays & Thursdays at either Redmon or Phillips / High Point Athletic Complex.  Each week we practice once in High Point and once in Kernersville.



Q: What does a typical year look like with the Youth Academy program?

Early May: Ice Cream Socials (Recreation players & parents can come out and experience our training environment.

Mid May: Assessments held for boys and girls 

Late August- Early November: Fall Season - Practice 2x a week, 6-8 play dates (ideally 2 games per play date), Skill Sessions & Goalkeeper Sessions offered 1x a week

December-January: Winter Agility Training 

February-Early May:  Spring Season - Practice 2x a week, 6-8 play dates (ideally 2 games per play date),  Skill Sessions & Goalkeeper Sessions offered 1x a week



Q: What are we looking for?

We are looking for players wanting to learn/improve, players able to stay focused, players ready to have a ton of fun, players ready to transition from Recreation to Club Soccer.

Q: What is the Assessment Process?
Youth Academy assessments are held in conjunction with all PTFC tryouts each spring in late May.  All players who are interested in participating with the Youth Academy will need to take part in our assessment process.

Q: How much does the program cost?

Q: What is the training environment? 

Our Youth Academy Pool Training System is designed to maximize the opportunity for each player to develop and succeed at the appropriate level. To help facilitate individual growth, our coaching staff uses aspects of both pool training and team-building. This enables our coaches the freedom to move players and structure teams from week to week to ensure each player is placed in the right learning environment.  We follow the Play-Practice-Play model put in place by US Soccer.



Q: What size soccer ball does my player need?

All players should have a size 4 soccer ball. They will need to bring a ball to all practices and games.



Q: What is the game format?

Games are structured in a 7v7 format (6 Field Players and 1 Goalkeeper).  



Q: Is playing time guaranteed?

Yes. A large part of our Youth Academy curriculum focuses on match play and learning through in-game scenarios.  



Q: Can players play on their recreational team and participate in the Youth Academy as well?

No. Our program is a 10 month long commitment, and players are not allowed to participate in any other program under the PTFC umbrella while playing in the Youth Academy program. 



Q: Can my player join the program if we missed assessments?

If your player misses the schedule assessments or you are interested in joining the Youth Academy program during the course of the season, please contact our Youth Academy Director: Carter Robbins.
