John Trice Joins PTFC Coaching Staff

February 24, 2016

PTFC is pleased to name John Trice the new Assistant Director of Coaching for U14-U16 Boys.  Coach Trice re-joins PTFC after moving back to the Triad and accepting the Associate Head Coach position with the HPU Men’s Soccer program in December of 2015.

“I am thrilled to welcome John back to PTFC and to the Piedmont Triad area,” said PTFC Director of Coaching David Upchurch.  “During his time with our club several years ago, we saw our boys teams make great strides under Coach Trice’s leadership.  I know that we will continue to see these improvements having him back and involved with our club.”

Coach Trice spent the 2015 year as an Assistant Coach with the James Madison Men’s Soccer program. Before his time at JMU, Coach Trice spent four years at Greensboro College as the Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer program, where he took a team that went 3-16-0 in 2010 and proceeded to go 40-25-11 over the next four seasons. Trice was named the 2014 USA South Conference Coach of the Year in 2014 after going 12-7-0 and claiming the 2014 USA South Conference regular season title, the Pride’s first since 2002. In addition to being the head men’s soccer coach, Trice was also named the Greensboro College’s Director of Athletics in 2013.  From 2006-20010, Coach Trice spent time as an Assistant Coach at both Holy Cross University (MA) and High Point University.

In addition to his work at the collegiate level, Coach Trice has coached for eight seasons in the North Carolina Olympic Development Program.  He holds a USSF National "A" Coaching License. He graduated in 2003 from James Madison University where he was a four-year letter winner and team captain. The Dukes went to two NCAA tournaments during his time at JMU and won the 2001 CAA Championship.

Trice joins fellow HPU Men’s Soccer coaches Brian White and EJ O’Keeffe as PTFC Assistant Director’s of Coaching.
